LOCATION AND DIRECTIONS WELCOME TO OUR BRAND NEW FACILITY IN THE HISTORIC HOWARD-KELLEY HOUSE 810 EAST UNIVERSITY AVENUE, GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA FSTM would like to thank the many generous donors who have made possible our move to our new permanent home on University Avenue in the historic district of Gainesville. Our new expanded facility gives us dedicated classroom space, library, administrative offices, and student lounge, all housed in this beautiful fully restored historic home. Our sister institution, the Birth Center of Gainesville, occupies the first floor and free-standing Birthing Suite on the property. The location of the two institutions in one building gives us an unprecedented opportunity in the education of midwifery students. In addition, we are just a few minutes from the hospital, Shands at AGH, and minutes walk from downtown Gainesville with its many fine cafes, restaurants, public library, city and county administration buildings, bed and breakfasts, art galleries and theaters. Gainesville is approximately one hour from both the Atlantic ocean and the Gulf Coast beaches. We enjoy clear, mostly sunny skies, warm temperatures, low pollution, and a wide variety of cultural events. Gainesville was voted the No. 1 most livable city in the country by Money Magazine in 1995. We are fortunate to have a community widely supportive of midwifery, including the recently affiliated Birth Center of Gainesville, one of the oldest birth centers on the east coast of the United States, and a center which played a vital role in the national development of midwifery. Our annual International Midwifery Day banquet draws a large and enthusiastic crowd every year. We look forward to giving you a personal tour of our facilities! rom I-75, Ocala and Points South
